Why is my cardiovascular endurance so bad?

Asked: Why is my cardiovascular endurance so bad?

I've always had issues with cardio. I'm otherwise in pretty good shape. I'm no athlete, but I lift weights, I like yoga. I eat pretty well, and I'm vegetarian so I don't think it would be a cholestorol problem. I'm 21% body fat, so in a healthy range. I've never smoked a day in my life. But I just cannot seem to handle cardiovascular activity, particularily running. For example, we were running out on the track in gym today and I could barely finish jogging 2 laps, so 1/2 a mile. After that, I felt like I was going to pass out. I was disoriented and couldn't walk straight, my chest was aching because my heart was racing so fast, i had a headache, my speech was slurred…. and this was for at least 20 minutes after. I've always thought that I just need to excercise more, but is it possible that something else could be going on? If not, what would be a a good way to get some cardiovascular activity?

How can I tell my family I’m going vegetarian?

Asked: How can I tell my family I’m going vegetarian?

I'm 16 and in the past few months I have developed eating disorder-like behavior. Going days without eating, chewing and spitting food, limiting calorie intake to like 500 MAX. But now I think I would just want to.go vegetarian. I had to lie to my family about what I was eating before, and now I just want to tell them. Most of my family is overweight, they already think I am skinny and will probably laugh when I tell them. I don't think they'll take me seriously. I'm serious. I don't want them to like question me "being anorexic" either (even though my dad calls me fat). They're closed-minded. Just would like some good reasons people go vegetarian, benefits, etc.

Are carbs causing me to gain/maintain weight? Please help? Too many complex/good carbs?

Asked: Are carbs causing me to gain/maintain weight? Please help? Too many complex/good carbs?

I have been reading some articles online about eating too many carbs and how detrimental this can be to weight loss.

After looking at my recent food diaries, I have been having around 200g of carbs a day on some days.

My usual day consisted of:

Breakfast: 2 pieces of wholemeal/multigrain/granary bread toasted with low fat spread

Lunch: Fruit or fast (if I am at school)

Dinner: (usually consumed at around 5pm) Jacket potato with rice or just rice or just potato with a plate full of vegetables

Snacks: Usually consist of fruit

I do not consume any unhealthy snacks and I have an evening fast paced walked of around 25 minutes every day without fail. At least three times a week I exercise, but is this enough to make me lose weight?

My general amount of calories per day is 1200, but sometimes I eat slightly more and exercise some off using aerobics or just generally moving around more.

Am I eating too many carbs? Should I cut down on them? What can I eat instead? I'm vegetarian btw.

Thanks for any answers!

vegetarian diet overeating and absorption?

Asked: vegetarian diet overeating and absorption?

Hi I have bin on this diet 2 months already and still feel bad I am hungry after eating I tried many things like eating small meals 5-6 times a day but still hungry after each meal I am so confused like I don't know how much should I eat and how much of each because I never get full and I end up overeating I think because I get bloated all time inmy lower abdomen. I am still losing weight so my overeating doesn't help … what could it be and I am eating lots of cooked grains plus nuts and seeds sprouts and so on, I am doing proper food combining like don't mix nuts with grains or froot and so on. how much calories should I eat? I am 24 year old man weight 117. Can it be cause I am over eating? and I try adding much more grains nuts and seeds because I was losing too much weight. what can it be?

How to stick to my morals?

Asked: How to stick to my morals?

So long story short I'm against cosmetic testing for animals and I never really knew about animal testing until a few years ago. I mean I always saw some products that had either the leaping bunny logo or "not tested on animals" printed on the packaging but I never really thought much about it. I don't know what made me decide to start only buying stuff that doesn't test on animals but the point is that I did, well sorta. I never realized till I really did some indepth research…just how many brands that we use everyday are tested on animals…it's like we can't escape it.:( Not only that but a lot of the cruelty-free brands are often really expensive and I can't always afford to buy high end makeup just to save the lives of animals. Also with all the new products coming out it's hard to not want to buy them and try them out even though they test on animals. There are even some products that aren't new that I wanted to try but now the brand is no longer cruelty-free. I feel torn. I think it's especially hard for me because my family doesn't exactly have the same values as me (my family are major animal lovers but they don't think animal testing is that big of a deal but they are proud of my values nonetheless) also I grew up eating meat and dairy products (so it's not like I'm a vegetarian or vegan or anything like that and I don't know if I even could be if I can't do a simple thing as not buying makeup brands that test on animals). HELP!
