How did you become a vegetarian?

Asked: How did you become a vegetarian?

Is it solely because of your love for animals? I didn't grow up as a vegetarian but one time, I watched a video on PETA showing the slaughter of animals and that convinced me to be a vegetarian.. but it only lasted for two months. I guess I don't have as strong of a determination for it as some people do.

What motivated you to be a vegetarian? Was it tough at first or did you adapt smoothly?

What will happen if a veg goes back to meat?

Asked: What will happen if a veg goes back to meat?

I want to hear from people who have actually done it.

I've been a vegetarian for 12 years. I've recently had a health crisis and am now on blood thinners. My diet is very limited and I'm thinking of reintroducing some meats into my diet. Maybe chicken or turkey.

Please serious answers only.

Bland foods for digestive upset?

Asked: Bland foods for digestive upset?

We have a guest visiting from out of state who has digestive problems.I don't particularly know what and why, but I know he can't eat a lot of meat and can't eat later than 2 in the afternoon without regretting it for the rest of the night if you know what I mean.

He's said he can eat like a slice of turkey breast and some mashed potatoes, or french toast or cereal for breakfast, but doesn't really know what else he can eat.Anybody have any ideas on some bland, vegetarian meals I can make for him while he's in town?I think that he has a colon problem and had part of it removed, but I don't want to ask obviously, and doubt he would answer anyway.

He couldn't eat the chicken and mushroom rice dinner I made, and he said he had a hamburger on his way in today and was really regretting it and uncomfortable, he said he can't eat a lot of meat and really can't seem to eat much of anything. But he's our guest and I want to keep him fed so he doesn't go waste money on bland restaurant stuff I can easily make at home.Any ideas?

what food group am I in with if I don’t eat fish?

Asked: what food group am I in with if I don’t eat fish?

We all know about vegetarians and vegans and all the rest but, what I want too know is what food group am I in with. I eat all meats, chicken, steak, pork, beef, turkey everything but, I don't and won't eat fish. I find it wrong just like some vegetarians but the other way round. I'm 17 years old and I've not eaten fish since I was 3 as my mum can re-call, so everybody else has there food groups but where am I placed? Surely, there has to be a group what I'm in but I can't seem too find anything? I choose not too eat fish because I find it wrong killing fish or any other type of seafood but I know what you're all thinking but why eat meat then. I still eat fruit and veg like normal people but where am I placed in the food group of vegetarians?

What food can my friend eat (new to vegetarian diet). Please PLEASE help me out?

Asked: What food can my friend eat (new to vegetarian diet). Please PLEASE help me out?

The doctor's told her to stay away from the following:
-red meat (no lean meat…)
-pork
-chicken
-dairy (anything that contains milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, sour cream, etc.)
-wheat & gluten (she can't even eat bread (milk)/white rice or whole grain rice)
-seafood
-corn
-nut like peanuts, almonds, and stuff like that
-fried or greasy
– Sweets like chcocolate(milk), gum, candy

I'm sorry, but I lack the whole idea of being a vegetarian. My friend who is not healthy right now; I'm trying to help her out. She's is in shock from this whole new change all suddenly as it happened all in one day and she had no time to prepare or get her mind ready for this change. I want to make a list of foods she can eat and give it to her for a gift and a cheer. Along with a meal I can make for her and I to enjoy, but I just have no idea. Like no wheat spagetti, salad with ranch dressing, whole grains rice which sounds all healthy to me but… Wheat/milk/wheat it all interferes with her doctor's don't-eat-list.
Please, don't be mean as I lack knowledge in the vegetarian section. I'm not trying to be rude…
Please make a list of things you know that she can eat that doesn't interfere with the doctor's list that you know or experienced of.
Please help me out!!

Considering becoming a vegetarian, but…?

Asked: Considering becoming a vegetarian, but…?

Hi! I'm a girl, 15 years old, and I've been considering becoming vegetarian… I wanted to at least try eating that way to see if I'd like it, but my parents would never approve.
My mom always says vegetarians are stupid (I'm sorry for any vegetarian/vegan reading this) and that they're really unhealthy and you can't live without meat. My dad would never understand why.

They just don't understand that if someone gave me a choice of going out and harvesting some vegetables or fruit to eat, or gave me an ax and a chicken/pig/cow/animal, I would NEVER choose to eat meat. Ever. And I feel that even though I don't see that when I go to the store, I basically doing the same thing.

Is there anything I can do? My mom is really opinionated so I can't change her views for the life of me. Please help ):

As a vegetarian, should I cook meat and fish for my fiance?

Asked: As a vegetarian, should I cook meat and fish for my fiance?

We've been living together for four years and this has always been a bit of an issue. He thinks I should. I don't want to and don't believe I should have to. I can't stand the smell, look, touch of meat and fish and have been a vegetarian since I was eight so I have no experience of cooking it.

He is a waiter and he eats some meat at the restaurant where he works. He will also grill a steak for himself at home every so often. We will then have another argument when I refuse to wash his dirty, meaty grill pan.

He says I'm an extremist, am I?
Should I attempt to 'get over it'?
The thought of touching it makes me feel sick, but one of us will have to give in.
