Pain below ribcage center! Similar to hunger and "butterfly" pains PLEASE HELP?

Carmen Asked: Pain below ribcage center! Similar to hunger and "butterfly" pains PLEASE HELP?

I'm a 24 year old vegetarian female 5'6'' and 135lbs… A week ago I went on a 1200 calorie diet consisting on low fat and low carbs. First time ever to do such an strict diet. The pain started two days ago one morning after i found out some bad news about my boyfriend. The night before I had severe stomach movements and sounds because i think my stomach was trying to digest a huge mexican meal I had hours before (yes, went out of the diet =S) though i did not show any other symptom (no nausea, no vomiting, no diarrhea, no excessive gas) .

At the beginning I thought it was just nervousness because it feels like the pain I've experienced before making a speech or presentation and because of the things I've recently found out about the BF; i think is something that was triggered by this (anxiety?). It is also similar to hunger pains but eating hasn't worked for me.

It comes and goes during the day but when it comes it is a very sharp pain and is pulsating (lasts for 15 seconds and comes and goes every 30 seconds; very constant like a heart beat) right below the ribcage in the center where your upper abs are. Has woken me up during the night and doesn't let me sleep until it goes away.

This morning i had no pain and then i ate a strawberry. When i swallowed a piece i felt it pass through my upper esophagus which is completely normal to everyone didn't feel it go down anymore and suddenly seconds later i felt the pain for like 2 seconds; it felt like the piece of strawberry had reached my stomach. I'm thinking it has to do with my cardiac sphincter but i have no gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, gas, diarrhea, nothing)just the pain. After the strawberry the pain lasted for like an hour, pulsating.

What could this be??? I am very nervous about it because it's getting stronger and I've always been very healthy. Pain is not related to eating because it usually hurts worse when im about to fall asleep. A slight bearable pain is always there during the rest of the day feels like pressure on that area…

Any ideas? I have no health insurance… Please help!
